A poem about trauma. Written 1-22-24.
I think of you, When my head lays down, When I wonder why I am like this, When I feel like something must explain, The temporary tensions of my life I wonder, If I could have been, Or done, Or thought, Something different I wonder if the dreams, Where I endlessly walk, Through an unknown city, Trying to find my way home, Would stop I wonder, If I could just say, The right magick words, That I could change everything, That I could have been yours But then I remember, What you’re really like, What you’ve really done, What our choices, Have done to our future And I am struck again, Like a dog chewing at a wound, Like a planet falling into a star, Like a motherless child, Like you left me
