BRIEFING:
Target date for magick: December 1, 2025, first night hour of Saturn.
Resonance effect: World AIDS Day.
Premise: During the rise of the AIDS crisis, the American government and then-president Ronald Reagan did a great deal to harm AIDS patients, the queer population, and the IV drug users that were most affected by the disease. Funding for research was proposed and denied. Awareness campaigns were asked for and denied. Health care for those affected was withheld. People with HIV lost their jobs and were freely discriminated against in housing and employment. Many, many people suffered and died. Many, many more people, those who loved and depended upon the sick and dying, also suffered. Thus a debt is owed. A blood debt.
Mechanism: The government of the United States owes a blood debt to the victims of the AIDS Crisis in the US. This mission hinges upon this unpaid debt. Even one blood debt is powerful magick and can grant a lever for a disastrous curse. From 1981 through 1990, 100,777 deaths from AIDS were reported in the US. That’s a lot of blood. A lot of debt on the books. An awfully big lever.
Link: The actual people behind the actions of governments, corporations, and even certain magickal orders, hide their responsibility for their crimes behind their corporate nature. They say “well, no one person did this bad thing, so we have to do an inquiry to find out who to blame”, and then by the time the inquiry is over the media and public forget, or a scapegoat is chosen to fall on the sword, or the leaders say it was a damned shame and act like it just sort of happened as some sort of mystery of the world. This is how they avoid paying for their crimes as the individuals they actually are. But we can use this same mechanism of diffusing the blame onto the organization to affect the entire current administration magickally using a blood debt from the 1980s. They gave us a magickal link to the whole damned US government from 1776 to now through their own reluctance to name names and point fingers. Reagan and the legislators responsible distributed the blame for their response to the AIDS crisis in the 1980s onto the whole US government, so by the actions and choices of the legitimate leaders, the whole US government bears the blood debt of the AIDS Crisis.
On December 1, 2025, the Sun, Venus, and Mars are all in Sagittarius, and we all know the Archer never misses their mark.
In an interaction I had with the Fury Alecto on 7-24-25, I asked what the path for survival, healing, and reconciliation, what I call the “Road To Dawn”, requires. She both assured me and demanded of me that everyone—everyone—must get exactly what they deserve. The scales must be balanced for us to heal the world. So let’s get to work on that.
MISSION:
Time: first night hour of Saturn (8:26pm-9:38pm PST) on 12-1-25. So finish your openings around 8:25pm PST to leave plenty of time for the working.
First we link to the actual resonance of World AIDS Day using the Law Of Symbolism. This attunes the working to the debt we wish to address. In this case we use the red ribbon on black background that has become the universal symbol of this issue. It’s simple, it’s powerful, and it has a lot of resonance through decades of use as a powerful and emotionally evocative symbol.
NOTE: Through this symbol we evoke the debt owed and point to those who were harmed, but without actually evoking the spirits of those who have already suffered far more than enough. Let them rest in whatever peace they have gained. What is remembered lives.
Then we invoke either the principle of justice or retribution (linked concepts, but not the same thing), as you will. Different mages have different ethical convictions and have sworn different oaths, and I don’t want to tell anyone their business who hasn’t actually signed up for that.
Various deities are suitable for this, but one might also go with a goetic/spirit-work approach or go full chaos/pop culture magick and invoke the Punisher. In any case, the important thing is to connect the blood debt to those mysterious ones (deities, spirits, and the like) who will be both motivated and empowered to balance the books.
COMMENTS:
We have to be careful how we approach this. We aren’t praying for divine intervention. Divine intervention is a favor, by definition. This is not a favor. This is us filling out the proper forms with the proper officials to make sure the rules are properly followed. As my esteemed officer Michel-Sebastien Lux was good enough to remind me, we are told to “Establish at thy Kaaba a clerk-house: all must be done well and with business way.” (Liber AL 3:41). Thus we are just being good citizens of the universe, bringing the outstanding blood debt to the attention of those beings (divine, infernal, or other) who, by their very nature, are debt collectors. A petitionary prayer might or might not be answered as the person prayed to decides, but it is in the nature of debt collectors to collect debts and the nature of agents of justice and retribution to balance the scales.
Watch your energy and remember to ground out any excess to avoid problems.
Please note that this open mission has the opposite hazard of the last one (The Haunted). While the dead can, just by their very nature, draw out and absorb our energy if we are not careful, deities and spirits can, just by their very nature, infuse us with their particular energy while we are connected with them. This is the primary operational reason we use invocations at all…to take on the aspect of a mysterious one or otherwise connect with them so that we can do something as if we were that mysterious one. This is usually a good thing, but it can be very problematic when it goes wrong, because suddenly being filled with too much of any specific energy can damage us just as much as not having enough energy. Context also matters. Getting filled up with martial energy, for example, can be awesome if you are about to go off to war, but it’s awful for a date night with your partner, and being all Mars all the time would damage your mental and physical health more and more as it went on (just ask the esteemed late Frater S.R.M.D.). We are microcosms of the universe and we tend to be healthiest when we are more or less balanced microcosms. Too much or too little energy of any kind can hurt. A lot. That’s why so many circle-casting rituals focus on getting a balance of each element through various methods, and why a good energy circulation method like the Middle Pillar Ritual should be a part of every mage’s spiritual hygiene and self-care regimen.
As always, take breaks if you need to and listen to your body, mind, and heart. As a mage, these are your tools and your weapons alike. Treat them well and maintain them and they will serve you well in turn.
