Yet I Barely Know You

You’ve blessed me, Olympian Queen,
Not once or twice but thrice,
Yet not once I have made,
An offering in thanks

Your blessings are blades,
They cut anyone,
Who does not wield them well,
And I was young and clumsy

Drunk on love,
When I said my vows,
But then, despite myself,
I sobered up

So in order to,
Keep my oaths to love,
I had to break my oaths,
To stay

Decades later,
I think of them,
My heart aches,
And I feel their loss again

I look at life,
And wonder at all the threads,
In that fated tapestry, 
That have been rewoven

At the times I have,
Returned to Your altar,
At how much You’ve blessed me,
How much I owe

To You, great goddess,
Queen Of Olympus,
I have devoted myself to Love,
Yet I barely know You

      It’s really hard for me to tell what’s good. I just follow the resonances of my spiritual life and stuff happens. I credit the Muses.

      1. What’s “good” is what opens a door or window for the reader, and each key fits certain locks.

         I am not a devotee of Hera or Juno, but I find her on my mind lately, and this very pure and vulnerable poem also touched me personally.

         1. I’m so glad. That’s all I want to do with my work.

            I have never worked with Her before, either. She just came into my life recently as basically my new boss…She is giving the orders right now about my work on theiatry. So I am coming to terms with Her and what my two previous failed marriages mean on a spiritual level, not instrumentally as some sort of preparation for being a good wife to Alex for the last 18 years or as experiences I dismiss as the silliness of young romantic, but as the transgressed sacraments of the queen of the gods. It’s not that I feel like I’m in trouble…merely like I must make an accounting. And that accounting is manifesting as mystical poetry and service right now.
